Outstanding Students

Stephen Jaurigue

Where are you from? I’m from Woodburn, Iowa.

Why did you choose Kirkwood? I chose Kirkwood because I heard that it had a well-respected Computer Software Development program.

What is your major and how did you choose it? I am studying Computer Software Development as it is a topic I have been interested in since late elementary school along with networking, cyber security and hardware.

What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood? My proudest moment at Kirkwood was creating a connect-4 game with a bot that had varying difficulties.

What are your plans after Kirkwood? I plan to start working in the field and then continue my education at a university.

What inspires or motivates you? I am inspired/motivated by a simple curiosity to know how everything works and how the different ways of putting things together make them function more and less effectively.

Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood. I have four younger sisters and one older brother. I enjoy coding, photography, anime and video games. My favorite game is “Don’t Starve Together” and my favorite anime is “Mob Psycho 100”.

What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you? Being named an Outstanding Student is a great honor and I believe is a sign that I should keep pushing forward doing what I’m doing and more.

Is there anything else you’d like to add? I look forward to graduating and putting my skills to the real test soon.
