Why did you choose Kirkwood?
I chose to attend Kirkwood because of the affordable class prices and class sizes, the proximity to home and the quality of education.
What is your major and how did you choose it?
My major is Liberal Arts (AS) and I chose this major as a step to get all of the crucial classes I will need when I transfer.
What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?
My proudest moment at Kirkwood has been making the Dean’s List in every semester for which I was qualified; it showed me that all of my hard work was paying off.
What are your plans after Kirkwood?
My plans after Kirkwood are to transfer to Iowa State and get a degree in Animal Ecology (Wildlife/Pre-Vet Med). Eventually, I want to go into veterinary medicine.
What inspires or motivates you?
Getting a great education and learning new things is what motivates and inspires me; I want to be able to help as many animals as I can in veterinary medicine and I know that everything I am doing right now is leading me on that path.
Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.
Outside of Kirkwood, I live at home with my parents and my younger brother. I also work at Hy-Vee in customer service. When I’m not working or studying, I like to hang out with my friends, watch sports and go on long car drives to get coffee.
What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you?
Being named an Outstanding Student means a lot to me because I know how much time I spend studying and putting my best effort into every class I take.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I am so grateful that I have been able to begin my higher education at Kirkwood and I know that I will take all of the things I’ve learned with me in my future.
