Q: Where are you from? (city, state) 

A: Atkins, Iowa 

Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood? 

A: Kirkwood has the best nursing program in the state, is close to home, and makes sense financially. 

Q: What is your major and how did you choose it? 

A:  Nursing. Both of my parents are nurses and I see how rewarding it is as a career. There is always a need and many options for nurses. 

Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?  

A: The recognition of this award. 

Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood? 

A:  I plan to continue with my BSN.

Q: What inspires or motivates you?

A: My family. Everyone in my family works in a career to serve others. They are nurses, members of our military, a teacher, and a geneticist.  

Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.

A: I enjoy running and have run 4 marathons. I like to spend time with my family, friends, and our rescue dog.  

Q: What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you? 

A: This recognition means that my hard work is not going unnoticed by those around me, that I am on my way to doing something I am passionate about, and that I enjoy what I am learning every day.
