Where are you from?
I am from right here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Why did you choose Kirkwood?
I was told by a lot of people how great of a first step it is. With how much support and positivity that I receive here, I am glad that I made the choice of Kirkwood.
What is your major and how did you choose it?
I am Liberal Arts student. I just wanted to get my general education out of the way before building on my degree.
What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?
Being recognized as an Outstanding Student. It makes me proud to feel recognized as a student who has worked hard. It motivates me to continue doing great things.
What are your plans after Kirkwood?
After Kirkwood, I plan to transfer to another college, not sure which one yet and start working on my bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
What inspires or motivates you?
I strive to be a good example for those around me. I have younger siblings that I hope look up to me and want to do good things like me.
Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.
As I mentioned before I have siblings, one sister and two brothers, all younger than me. Some of my hobbies include arts and crafts and watching movies with my family and friends. I have recently taken an interest at the new arcade called Spare Time here in Cedar Rapids.
What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you?
Being Outstanding Student can mean a lot of things. To me, it means that I am been seen as outside of the average. I work really hard at school and to be seen for that makes it worth keeping it up.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Everyone should keep trying, and it’s okay if you’re not great at everything you try.
