Where are you from?
Center Point, Iowa.
Why did you choose Kirkwood?
It had a lot of classes I could take that would transfer to Iowa and it was close to home.
What is your major and how did you choose it?
Biology and Pre-Med. I chose Biology because I had lots of interest in the subject and I truly want to help people.
What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?
My proudest moment was working on my honors project and creating super cool chemical compounds that could have cancer fighting properties.
What are your plans after Kirkwood?
I plan on going to Iowa and entering the biomedical science program.
What inspires or motivates you?
My family inspires me and drives me in my passions. I want to become a doctor because of the lack of healthcare I have seen in the small towns like mine.
Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.
I love art and I have always been an artist. I participate in Chalk the Walk Mount Vernon regularly and donate a lot of my winnings to causes I’m passionate about. I am also a manager at Starbucks which is a big passion for me.
What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you?
Being an Outstanding Student gives me lots of confidence that I am on track to my goals and that I am on the right path to making my family and myself proud.
