Where are you from?
West Branch, Iowa.
Why did you choose Kirkwood?
I chose to attend Kirkwood because of the location from my hometown, the tuition cost and for a two-year degree at one of the nation’s best community schools for Agriculture. I also knew with the uncertainty of my future when I graduated high school, Kirkwood would open doors for me to have many opportunities no matter what I decided to do.
What is your major and how did you choose it?
My major is Agriculture Business. After growing up on a crop production farm my whole life I’ve always had a passion for agriculture and knew I would want to continue my education in the industry. I ended up deciding to major in Agriculture Business because of all the different jobs and opportunities it would present.
What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?
Looking back at all the friends and connections I’ve made, things I’ve accomplished and knowledge I’ve gained over the past two years.
What are your plans after Kirkwood?
Recently I decided to transfer to Iowa State and continue my education to get my Batchelor’s degree in Agriculture Business.
What inspires or motivates you?
My mom and dad never fail to inspire me and always keep me motivated to do my best. They have taught me so much in life and have set such great examples as first generation farmers.
Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.
Outside of Kirkwood I’m a very outgoing person who loves being on the farm, playing golf, and visiting family, and traveling. I live in a family of all girls (which can be pretty unfortunate for my dad at times), with two younger sisters that I would do anything for. Recently over spring break I traveled through nine states.
What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you?
I am honored to be named an Outstanding Student. To me it truly means all my hard work and dedication in and outside the classroom is paying off. It inspires me to continue to work hard toward my goals in the future.
