Swisher, Iowa.

Why did you choose Kirkwood?

I chose Kirkwood because it was an affordable way to receive my education, especially during the pandemic. I also met with multiple staff from Kirkwood before deciding, who made me feel comfortable and supported.

What is your major and how did you choose it?

I graduated from Kirkwood with an Associate of Liberal Arts. My major now is Education Studies and Human Relations with a minor in Social Work. I chose this major because I have an innate passion to support students and young adults both in their education and in their lives.

My biggest aspiration is to make a difference in others’ lives. I am motivated by the potential I have to make others feel loved and cared for, especially those who may not receive it elsewhere.

I am the youngest of 4 children. We also have 8 cats. I work part-time as a server and as a teacher for my church’s Kids Wing. I love to read, write and spend time outdoors. I am a first-generation college student and I loved the time I spent in Kirkwood’s TRIO program.
