Where are you from? I’m from Saigon, Vietnam.
Why did you choose Kirkwood? I chose to attend Kirkwood after talking to my uncle and cousins, who are Kirkwood alums, and after getting to know more about the support provided for the international student, the classroom environment and campus life.
What is your major and how did you choose it? My major is Liberal Arts of Science. I took this degree because I plan to transfer to another 4-year institution after graduating from Kirkwood.
What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood? My proudest moment at Kirkwood was when I was able to help incoming international students adjust to the new semester as an International Student Leader.
What are your plans after Kirkwood? I plan to do more research while finishing up my Bachelor’s degree and work in the field I’m interested in.
What inspires or motivates you? My family and loved ones are my biggest motivation, and my friends, advisors and instructors are my biggest inspiration. They have enabled me to excel academically and grow as a person.
Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood. Outside work and school, I spend most of my time cooking and cleaning my living space. In order to do well academically, I need to feel good mentally, emotionally and physically.
What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you? Being named an Outstanding Student means that my hard work has been recognized not only by my family but also by the committee and those other than my loved ones.
Is there anything else you’d like to add? I want to thank my advisors for their tremendous support, my friends for their presence, my instructors for their teachings and my family for their selfless sacrifices.
