A challenge many students at Kirkwood Community College face, particularly students who live farther from the Cedar Rapid location, is being unable to attend sporting events on campus. Luckily for those students, Kirkwood streams every home sporting event other than golf.
The livestream is located on the athletic website (kirkwoodeagles.com). Clicking on the camera shape in the top right corner of the screen will bring up the video and a schedule of upcoming events.
Although Kirkwood does not stream away games and events, links to other school’s streams are posted on the school’s social media channels, @KirkwoodEagles on X (formerly known as Twitter).
When asked about any broadcasting crew, Tyler Francis, assistant coach of the men’s basketball team who also orchestrates the stream, said, “We loop in the audio from the gym or out on the field. It’s just not, there’s no cementation over it.”
Athletic Director Doug Wagemester added that they have considered adding commentators and that it was something that they used to have when he first started working at Kirkwood.
Both Wagemester and Francis recommended every game and emphasized the importance of attending these events if possible.
