Outstanding Students

Adetola Dansou

Q: Where are you from? (city, state)

A: I am from Benin, a west Africa country.

Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood?

A: Because Kirkwood is a community college. Its tuition is affordable. It is closed to where I live.

Q: What is your major and how did you choose it?

A: My major is HIT (Health Information Technology). I chose it because I want an occupation that can have a flexibility to work from home and it requires only two years to complete it.

Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?

A: My proudest moment was to participate to “American Dreamers: Immigrant Students at Kirkwood” video. I was in level 4 Reading class with Professor Elizabeth Baertlein.

Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood?

A: After Kirkwood I started my class in another community college because Kirkwood does not have opening for my major.

Q: What inspires or motivates you?

A: Thinking that I am the hope of all my family, it helps me to work hard every day to achieve my goal.

Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.

A: I am a married woman, mother of 3 beautiful children. I love to spend my time with my kids and husband. I love to cook and travel.

Q: What does be named an Outstanding Student mean to you?

A: It is my reward for my hard working each semester. It is also a motivation to continue to always get a good grade.
