Where are you from? I was born in DR Congo, but I grew up in Cape Town, South Africa. One of the most beautiful cities I have ever laid eyes on.
Why did you choose Kirkwood? I think Kirkwood chose me, I landed here by chance on my search for a school and the staff with their friendliness have since kept me here.
What is your major and how did you choose it? Right now, I’m getting my Liberal Arts degree from Kirkwood, I think I chose it because I was undecided for a while, and it was the best option in getting what I needed while I figured out what I really wanted to do.
What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood? I thought making the dean’s list twice was it, but I think this right here must be it. Graduating will probably top that at some stage this year.
What are your plans after Kirkwood? I have been accepted into the university of Iowa, I will be getting my Bachelors in sociology there and hopefully Law school after that.
What inspires or motivates you? The fear of disappointing authority haha (i don’t know what that says about me). That is motivation enough. Also, just the idea of me being able to do something I love one day (practice law).
Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood. Well, all my family are in South Africa, so I am here alone. Which leaves me plenty of time to read. I am a bit of a nerd that way, I read like 52 books last year alone. Only fiction though because life is hard enough. If I’m not reading, I am probably shopping, I enjoy collecting sneakers as much as I do books.
What does be named an outstanding student mean to you? I think it has installed confidence in me I did not know I lost. I have been dreading law school so this just gives me hope that the hard work I have put in and the discipline I have in place pays off and I will be just fine at the end of all this.
