Charlene Mawela

Where are you from? I’m a U.S. citizen, originally from D.R Congo

Why did you choose Kirkwood? I chose Kirkwood Community College because I value diversity. This campus embodies diversity in its programs, clubs and extracurriculars, and most importantly in its staffs and students

What is your major and how did you choose it? My major is Business Administration/Management. My career goal is to be my self-employed. What inspires or motivates you? I’m motivated by learning new things, acquiring new skills, overcoming challenges and coming up with creative ideas

Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood. Outside of Kirkwood, I’m a wife and mother. I like spending my free time in my kitchen cooking for my family

What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you? It’s an honor being named an outstanding student.
