Q: Where are you from? (city, state)
A: I was born and raised here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood?
A: I attended some Kirkwood classes previously in high school, and I recently decided to make a career change so I decided to return to Kirkwood and do some more technical training and classes.
Q: What is your major and how did you choose it?
A: I am completing my Energy Production and Distribution degree here at Kirkwood Community College. I chose this program because it is an enormously growing field and in a renewable technology so I believe it is where I, and the world, should be shifting to.
Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?
A: Climbing the wind turbine and standing on top to view all of Cedar Rapids for the first time was very amazing and I am very proud of that memory.
Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood?
A: I have actually enjoyed my time here at Kirkwood so much I am actually hoping to return to Kirkwood and help share my knowledge by teaching at Kirkwood.
Q: What inspires or motivates you?
A: I love reading inspirational news stories about humans doing selfless acts just for the good of humanity. These stories make me want to accomplish great things in life so that I too can one day commit such an act that will hopefully go on to inspire others.
Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.
A: I am very interested in renewable technology and renewable gardening. I have my own garden, hydroponics garden, and vertical garden all part of an in-home renewable energy center powered by a combination of solar panels and a wind turbine. I also very much enjoy hanging out with friends and family.
Q: What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you?
A: I feel quite honored to be selected from all my hard-working peers as that someone who just put in that extra effort, and proud that all the amazing staff here at Kirkwood recognize that fact.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to add?
A: I am an exceedingly interpersonal person and I can’t wait to get back on campus and see everyone in person again.
