Q: Where are you from? (city, state) 

A: I am from Dapaong, north city in Togo which is located in west Africa. 

Q: Why did you choose Kirkwood? 

A: I chose Kirkwood because I heard from one of my friends that Kirkwood has a good program for the ELA student. When I came in USA, I was Illinois in East Moline, and I saw people who took 2 or 3 years for their ELA classes. That was where for me. 

Q: What is your major and how did you choose it? 

A: My major is Statistics. First, let me tell you that I have 154 credits in economic back home. I was thinking first to continue in economic but I changed that because of market demand in statistic in the world. Also, I think I could earn a bachelor degree in statistic and a master degree later in statistic-economic. 

Q: What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood?  

A: My proudest moment at Kirkwood was a moment I realized that I could be able to give a speech in front of my classmates. It was in my level 4 and 5 classes. 

Q: What are your plans after Kirkwood? 

A: My plan after Kirkwood is to continue my study at the University of Iowa to get my bachelor degree. 

Q: What inspires or motivates you?

A: Getting a good job, good pay and a job that will make me happy at work are my motivation. 

Q: Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood – hobbies, family, other interests, etc.

I like to watch European soccer ball and news in my free time at home. My father has been married to 2 wives. My mom has 4 children (3 boys and 1 girl ). I am the youngest of my mom’s children. I do not have any members of my family here in America. I like to tell truth. 

Q: What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you? 

A: Being named an outstanding student mean that ELA dep. and Kirkwood heard recognize student who work hard. It is very nice to know that people have their eye on your hard work. 

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to add? 

A: I do not have anything to add, but I would like to thank to Kirkwood members and all their staff to keep recognize student who work hard. That help student to keep working hard. Thanks again for this honor recognition. I very appreciate.
