Outstanding Students

Jaidyn Rugg

Where are you from? North English, Iowa.

Why did you choose Kirkwood? My high school has a dual enroll programs with Kirkwood so Kirkwood is the only choice I had.

What is your major and how did you choose it? I am in a Liberal Arts program, but will attend Iowa State to major in Early Childhood Education.

What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood? Earning enough Kirkwood credit to hopefully graduate from Kirkwood before I graduate from high school.

What are your plans after Kirkwood? I plan to attend Iowa State University in August 2024.

What inspires or motivates you? I am motivated by my goal. I have had the goal of graduating from Kirkwood before I graduate from high school for a long time. Many people have told me that I couldn’t do it and I am motivated to prove them wrong.

Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood. I am very involved in extracurricular activities. I participated in many sports, am English Valleys Student Council President this year, am English Valleys FFA Chapter Reporter, in National Honor Society, and many other activities. I almost never have any free time between Kirkwood courses, English Valleys courses, and all of my extracurricular activities.

What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you? Being an Outstanding Student means a lot to me. It shows me how my hard work is being recognized by more people than myself and my family.
