Where are you from? I am from Anamosa, Iowa.
Why did you choose Kirkwood? Because coming out of high school I didn’t know what I wanted to do in regard to my future career. With that, I decided to come to Kirkwood, and I wholeheartedly think that was the best decision I could have done for myself at the time. Kirkwood’s affordability also made it appealing to me as well.
What is your major and how did you choose it? My major at Kirkwood is Business Management. I started in the medical field when I first came to Kirkwood. However, I had some business background before that. So, once I wasn’t successful in getting any job shadows in the medical field, I thought it was best to switch to the business side. I was also told a business degree is very versatile which I thought was probably more fitting for me.
What has been your proudest moment at Kirkwood? This year it was in Dance Marathon. Our fundraising goal for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital was $25,000 and we successfully raised $28,124.14.
What are your plans after Kirkwood? My plan after Kirkwood is to transfer on and further my education to earn a bachelor’s degree.
What inspires or motivates you? Meeting new people and helping others motivates me. I am just looking forward to continuing to work toward a lifelong career.
Tell us about who you are outside of Kirkwood. I am part of a family of four with a boyfriend of five years. I enjoy hanging out with family and friends, playing card and board games, swimming, and watching sports.
What does being named an Outstanding Student mean to you? It is an incredible recognition. I think being recognized as an Outstanding Student is validation of my hard work and dedication I have portrayed while being at Kirkwood. I think it is also a good reminder that my hard work doesn’t go unnoticed!
Is there anything else you’d like to add? I would like to say I am very thankful for the great support I have received at Kirkwood and grateful for everyone I have met while being at this college. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the guidance of some of these people! However, I would never be here today
